Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca and Drive to Fes
Upon your arrival at Casablanca airport, our team will meet you and transfer you to Fes, a journey of approximately four hours. You'll spend the night in a charming riad, settling in and preparing for the adventure ahead.
Day 2: Exploring Fes with a Private Guide
Today, you'll embark on a comprehensive tour of Fes with a private guide. Your day begins at the Royal Palace, notable for its seven golden doors and intricate decor. You'll then stroll through the Mellah, the historic Jewish quarter built adjacent to the palace for protection. From Borj Sud, a former fortress on a hill, you'll enjoy panoramic views of Fes, allowing you to appreciate the city's sprawling layout.
Your next stop is a pottery cooperative, where you'll witness the creation of Fes's unique pottery and mosaics. As you venture into the ancient medina, you'll experience a vibrant living museum, bustling with daily life. Be sure to keep moving and watch out for the donkeys!
You'll visit the Al-Quaraouiyine University, the world's oldest degree-granting university, founded in 859 CE by a woman. Fes is renowned for its handicrafts, and you'll have the opportunity to see silk weaving from agave fibers and the traditional tanning processes at the famous Fes tannery. Lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant within the medina. After a full day of exploration, you'll return to your riad for the night.
Day 3: Journey to the Sahara Desert
Leaving Fes, you'll head into the Middle Atlas Mountains. The road to the desert is filled with picturesque waterfalls, cedar forests, and charming towns like Ifrane, known for its Swiss-style chalets. You'll pass through Azrou, where you might spot Barbary apes, and continue through Midelt, with the towering peaks of the High Atlas in the distance.
The journey takes you through the lush Ziz Valley and its dramatic gorge, past palm oases, and the town of Rissani, famous for its antiques market. By late afternoon, you'll arrive in Merzouga, on the edge of the Sahara Desert. Here, you'll embark on a memorable camel trek into the desert, reaching a luxury camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes. Enjoy dinner, traditional music around the campfire, and a night under the star-studded sky.
For guests preferring a shorter camel ride, a 4x4 vehicle can be arranged for transportation to the desert camp.
Day 4: Across the High Atlas to the Dades Gorge
Rise early to witness the sunrise over the dunes before enjoying breakfast at the camp. After a brief camel ride back to your starting point, your journey continues to Erfoud, where you'll visit the fascinating Fossil Museum. The route then takes you off-road through scenic landscapes, traditional Berber villages, and dramatic rock formations.
You'll explore the stunning Todra Gorge, where you can walk between its towering cliffs, and then continue through the beautiful palm oasis of Tineghir. Arriving in the Dades Valley by late afternoon, you'll be enchanted by the sunlit red rock formations known as the 'Monkey’s Fingers.' You'll spend the night in the serene Dades Gorge.
Day 5: From Dades Gorge to Ait Ben Haddou
This morning, enjoy some off-road driving before continuing along the Road of 1000 Kasbahs to the Valley of Roses, famous for its rose-derived products. You'll visit the Skoura Oasis, where a bike ride among the palm groves offers a unique perspective. Here, you'll find the Kasbah Amridil, a living museum featured on the Moroccan 50 dirham note.
Next, you'll reach Ouarzazate, known as the "Door of the Desert" and a major film location. You can visit the Atlas Studios and the impressive Taourirt Kasbah. Finally, you'll arrive at the fortified city of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and filming location for numerous movies. You'll stay overnight in this historic setting.
Day 6: From Ait Ben Haddou to Marrakech
After a refreshing night in Ait Ben Haddou, you'll enjoy breakfast with views of the surrounding landscapes. You'll then head towards Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, which offers breathtaking vistas. After arriving in Marrakech, you'll be transferred to your riad or hotel for the night.
Day 7: Discovering Marrakech
Meet your guide in the morning for a private tour of Marrakech. You'll visit the Koutoubia Minaret, the tallest structure within the city walls. Learn about traditional Berber remedies at an apothecary shop, and enjoy coffee at the historic Dar Bacha. Explore the vibrant Jemaa el Fna square and the surrounding souks, visiting workshops of shoemakers and bakers. The afternoon is free for you to explore at your leisure before returning to your riad for the night.
Day 8: Return to Casablanca
